Fire Risk Assessment

Each year people die or are seriously injured as a result of fires at work. Many fires can be avoided by taking simple fire precautions.

In England, Scotland and Wales, legislation introduced in October 2006 replaced most existing fire safety legislation. Fire certificates for certain buildings are no longer required, and the emphasis is now on preventing fires and reducing risk. These rules came into force in Northern Ireland in 2008.

This legislation requires that anyone who has control over premises must take reasonable steps to reduce the risk from fire and make sure people can safely escape if there is a fire.

Also you must have a legally-designated “responsible person” who must arrange for a fire risk assessment to be undertaken, periodically reviewed, identify any possible fire risks and deal with them.

This is where CJT Services Ltd can help you to ensure that the responsibilities of a ‘responsible person’ are carried out, these include:

• Carrying out fire risk assessments and identifying dangers and risks.
• Thinking about the people who might be particularly at risk, e.g. disabled, elderly or the even the equipment fellow employees might be using to carry out their work.
• Removing the risk from fire, as far as reasonably practicable.
• Putting in place fire precautions to reduce any risks that remain.
• Making sure that there is suitable and sufficient protection if you use or store flammable or explosive materials.
• Having an effective plan to deal with emergencies.
• Recording findings and reviewing them as when necessary.

Getting someone suitably trained in all of the above can take a lot time, cost a lot of money and take up a valuable productive time.

At CJT Services Ltd we have the experience and the know-how to carry out all of the above and more to ensure the safety of all of your employees and anybody else that may enter your premises.

We believe our prices are very competitive and the job we do is not just to a satisfactory level, we look to go beyond, to ensure the safety of your employees, your premises and your business.
